Congratulations to Board Member Richard Tuten!
Board Member Richard Tuten, has been named the "Distinguished Citizen of Montgomery 2009" by the Blue Ash Montgomery Rotary Club on June 16, 2009. With a long and rich history of community involvement it does not surprise anyone who knows him that he would be the recipient of this award.  Richard has served on the Development Committee of the local Red Cross chapter and is presently on the Development Committee of the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired.  For 18 years he has worked with a group of retired GE engineers repairing the receivers for the Talking Books program.  He has served for a number of years on the Board of Glad House, served for eight years as a docent for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra  Music for Children program and is currently serving on the Board of Twin Lakes Retirement Community.  

Prayer Garden at Twin Towers Re-Opens.
The Prayer Garden outside of the Atrium in the main building at Twin Towers was re-dedicated on June 17, 2009 at a 2:00 pm ceremony. The beautiful garden was designed by residents in addition to members of the Auxiliary, Chapel Committee, and Resident Council... read more and see photos.

Laughter is Good for Your Heart!
The June 2009 newsletter from The International Council on Active Aging reports that, "Two recent studies showed that watching a comedy rather than a documentary had positive effects on the vascular system that lasted for 24 hours. In one study, 17 healthy adults who watched a comedy film benefited from improved arterial compliance, the amount of blood that moves through the arteries at a given time. Decreased arterial compliance is associated with high blood pressure and heart disease. In a separate study, the blood vessels of 10 people who watched a comedy became more dilated compared to a group that watched a documentary. Constricted blood vessels often lead to high blood pressure." read more
